Opening the Apple Yo-Yo Adapter

Today I opened the Apple Yo-Yo Adapter. I found that the one and only one way to open it is to use force. It is because the "shells" are glued with the adapter tightly without any screw. However, if anyone of you know other methods, please let me know.

This is a guidance to the way of crack-opening the shell of iBook G3 Clamshell. If you could replace it yourself. There will be no need to buy another one from ebay. 

Crack-opening the shell of iBook Clamshell won't be difficult. First, we need a knift, to wedge between the gap of the shell of the battery.

And then insert a screwdriver into it when the gap becomes wider.

Finally, wiggle along the gap and pry the shell off.

Apple's Yo-Yo Adapter (1999) is the coolest adapter ever, for sure. Actually this design was used for a very short period of time and it just compatible to a few of laptops models.

I have tried to crack-opened the Apple Yo-Yo Adapter but the shell of it has been damaged. If anyone of you know the way to open it "beautifully", please let me know.

Applying Protective Film to the keys of Clamshell

Repeat pounding of keyboards renders the marking of the keys to fade.

There are two ways to prevent fading of keyboard markings: either place a layer of silicon protective film onto the keyboard, or apply protective skin on each of the keys.

The silicon protective film provides the strongest protection for iBook G3. It not only protects the keys but also the gaps betweens the key against water, dirt  or dust.... 

There were once many manufacturers that produced this kind of silicon film. However, as iBook Clamshell had been classified as "obsolete", accessories for it are not easily found these days. However, you could be able to find it in ebay in very rare occasions.

So making a protective film for the keyboard seems to been a more feasible choice.

If you wish to DIY a protective film for your keyboard, I would suggest the brand "Bestskinsever" as your first priority.

Why?

Because "Bestskinsever" has "DIY skin" for sale, of which one can simply use scissors to cut the desire shape any device.

Today, I applied "Bestskinsever" protective skins onto each of the key of my Apple iBook Clamshell. It looks great～

The Monitor of iBook Clamshell Mod - Under Testing

iBook Clamshell would be the most complicated mod we have ever made. The works involved are extremely sophisticated. We have spent plenty of time to explore the possibilility. Yet, many of the problem has been resolved. Now we are making this "Testing Unit-01". Today I installed a 12" 1024x768 LCD panel in the top case lid of the iBook Clamshell. It works great.

Making an iOS Bookmark Icon for Your Website

Making an bookmark icon of your site for iOS devices is easy:

(1) Prepare a image file with a size 117x117 pixels

(2) Named it as "icon.png"

(3) save in your web site's root web directory, i.e. Where the "index.html" file is being stored

(4) that is～
